After being heavily-rumored since 2019, Apple’s Tile-like AirTag is here. It is a small, round tag to help you keep up w/ tracking your items so they won’t get lost. It will utilize the Find My app on iOS to track everything and will notify you when you’re separated from your item as well.
It has a built-in speaker, accelerometer, NFC, Bluetooth LE, and 1-year battery that’s replaceable. Each AirTag is armed w/ Apple’s U1 chip that uses Ultra Wideband technology, sound, & haptic feedback to help you find your located item. Thy won’t store any location data/location history inside the device as it will use end-to-end encryption for communications between the Find My app & the AirTag itself. Like everything else Apple drops, it will work hand-in-hand w/ their software/services w/ ease.
The Apple AirTag will start at $29 for one and go up to $99 for a 4-pack. It will be available on April 30th w/ pre-orders kicking off this Friday at 5AM PST/8AM EST. Apple has their own accessories for them as well w/ a leather loop + key ring for it w/ more accessories on the way.
Now that they’re here, will you be buying one?
