And last but not least, Samsung revealed their new 2021 smartwatches w/ the Galaxy Watch 4 and the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic. The only real difference between the 2 are the bezel and style w/ the Watch 4 sporting the Active design and the Classic retaining its more elegant look/feel. Now let’s get into all that is new w/ them.
For starters, gone is Samsung’s own Tizen OS and we finally got Google’ WearOS back into the mix underneath its Samsung’s One UI. So the watches will automatically add compatible apps from your phone, utilize bezel or gesture controls to navigate, and access apps you never could like Google Maps & other 3rd-party apps.
Both offer their newest BioActive Sensor comprised of 3 different sensors on a single chip that can monitor blood pressure, measure blood oxygen level, detect an irregular heartbeat, and monitor your body composition (including skeletal muscle mass, basal metabolic rate, body water + body fat percentage. And last but not least, we got sleep tracking that can monitor your sleep patterns & your snoring too.
Both watches will offer Samsung’s newest Exynos W920 dual-core CPU, 1.5GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, 5ATM + IP68 water-resistance, Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi, NFC, GPS, and wireless charging support.
The Watch 4 will arrive in 40mm + 44mm aluminum cases while the Watch 4 Classic will arrive in 42mm + 46mm cases. As far as batteries go, you got a 247 mAh battery in the smaller sizes & a 361 mAh battery in the larger watch sizes. The watch displays are a 1.2inch AMOLED w/ 396 x 396 resolution for the smaller side while the larger sizes grant you a 1.4inch AMOLED w/ 450 x 450 resolution.
The Watch 4 will arrive in Black, Green, Silver, & Pink Gold for $249 while the Watch 4 Classic will only come in Black or Silver color options for $349. If you desire LTE connectivity then it will be $50 more. You can pre-order yours today and get a $50 credit as it will arrive on August 27th.
