Working from home became a bit more on the rise than previously due tot he pandemic. While some employers are bringing their workers back in, some are still retaining the remote work for at least another year. With that, brings forth a lot of video calls, meetings, and such.
Well, former Apple, Beats and Uber employees got together to create the new Opal company w/ their 1st product being their C1 webcam. This is made to go head-to-head w/ DSLR video quality for your webcam solutions.
It will be armed w/ the latest tech to pull it off. So you’ll have a 7.8mm f/1.8 Sony sensor capable of capturing in low-light + 4K up to 60fps, 3 omni-directional beam-forming mics w/ intelligent noise-cancellation, and a neural processing chip + Intel-powered VPU for superb rending. All of this inside of a anodized aluminum housing that will come in either Black or White color options.
It will give you a few more features via their Opal app which will allow you to apply bokeh to blur your background, touch up imperfections w/ filters, add logos, and adjust things like brightness + white balance. Now the app is only available for Macs but not sure if 3rd-party support will come into play while it launches.
It will cost you $300 so w/ this pricier price tag, hopefully it will be worth paying than other 4K webcams out in the market. We don’t have a release at the current time but definitely interested in checking this one out.
