Looks like Canon isn’t going back to sleep after Sony & the competition more or less woke the sleeping giant.  After officially stepping into the mirrorless camera arena, they haven’t looked back and been cranking out shooters ever since.

So for the latest shooter, Canon takes the R5 photo features + body and combines it w/ the C70 Cinema Camera to give you this: the EOS R5C.  A hybrid 45MP 8K video full-frame mirrorless cinema camera to handle both high-end photography + cinematography.  All for $4,500 which is pretty good price for an 8K camera.

Now despite its massive looking appearance, the body weighs in at only 1.7lbs so you won’t have to go out and buy another tripod or gimbal in case you were planning on picking this up.

So what makes the EOS R5C so special?  Well, its the massive list of their features & spec sheet that makes this thing so impressive.  You got a 45MP 35mm full-frame mirrorless sensor w/ 3:2 aspect ratio + Dual Pixel CMOS AF w/ eye detection, a electronic + mechanical shutter, ISO form 100-51,200, can shoot up to 8K video up to 60fps in 12-bit Cinema RAW light as well as 4K up to 120fps in 4:2:2 10-bit, offers Canon Log3, HLG, & other EOS C formats, uses Canon’s Digic X image processor, RF lens mount, false color/aspect ratio markers video scopes, supports CF express + SD cards, OLED viewfinder, built-in Wi-Fi, dedicated DIN Timecode port, a flip-out screen, and an active cooling system for ‘unlimited’ recording time.

Now amongst everything previously mentioned, there was no IBIS (In-Body Image Stabilization) listed.  So if you need that, you’re gonna have to rely on the Canon glass that has IBIS built-in.

You’re also gonna have to worry about storage as Canon recommends the $730 650GB ProGrade Digital CFexpress 2.0 card for 8K recording.  Which won’t be helpful to your wallet as its already pricey and 8K video will eat that 650GB like nothing.

And lastly, since overheating is no longer no issue supposedly, you’re gonna have to worry about keeping this thing powered up.  You can use the LP-E6N batteries to keep this thing going but you might have to pick up their latest power brick accessory to for more power.

Now that you have everything you need to know about it.  The Canon EOS R5C is due out in March so won’t have a long wait to pick one up.  We got your pre-order link below.
