So after 3 years, we might see an actual sequel to the AirPods Pro this year.  While some have been waiting w/ baited breathe for the 2nd-generation AirPods Pro, others have not.  I, for one, am looking forward to see what Apple does to them.   According to the latest rumors about them, it may sway the latter.

Based on a note to investors from Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo spotted by 9to5Mac, the AirPods Pro 2 will bring forth Apple’s Lossless Audio Codec.  This is a compression that retains all of the original data to make for overall better audio quality.  Ergo, richer overall sound or the equivalent to record player quality as opposed to less than CD-quality via streaming BTW.

However, using lossless audio will eat up storage space if downloaded or mobile data if streamed.  The more you know.  Coincidentally, damn-near all Apple products support the codec like the iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV 4K, & the HomePod.  In order for Apple to pull this off though, they’ll either have to ditch Bluetooth or do some sort of technological sorcery to pull it off though.  So we shall see how they make it work – if this isn’t  just a rumor.

Also possibly coming is a focus on fitness which could lead to the more stemless earbuds redesign we heard about previously.  Along w/ that, a new charging case that emits a sound to help you find it if ever lost.  This would work via Find My app.

We’re expecting to see them launch sometime in Q4 of this year.  I’m sure we’ll see plenty of the competition drop before them from Sony, Google, Soundcore, Jabra, & more.
