Earlier this week, word got out that Sonos is looking to evolve more as a company than we previously thought.  We know they’re working on a pair of Bluetooth headphones but now we know they’re working on an OS for the home theater.

This information comes from the folks over at The Protocol who spotted & corroborated w/ their sources about several job postings like a UX Lead – Next Generation Home Theater Experience to work across multiple devices to deliver a next-gen content delivery experience.  Along w/ a future Principal Platform Product Manager to develop an OS & Media Platform roadmap and a Head of Partnerships, Home Theater to connect users to content + services w/ Sonos quality experience.

Now even w/ these job postings, we still have zero idea on what their actual plans for Home Theater OS are.  It could be a proprietary UI-running media player like Roku & others have done.  or something entirely different.  A TV streaming platform from Sonos could be interesting but necessarily a hit though.  They would have to deal w/ the likes of Roku OS, Fire TV, Apple TV, & Google TV.

Since Sonos is looking to evolve & innovate themselves, something like this would bode well pending that it is executed well.  Having several audio products out, and a radio streaming service, a TV streaming experience of sorts would make sense to be next.

For my Sonos owners out there, would you give their Home Theater OS a shot?  Or do you need see how it is done 1st?
