This morning, the folks over at Insta360 unveiled an update to their modular One R camera which was well-received. So today, we meet the One RS which gives you minor updates on paper but bigger ones while actually using it.
So it retains the 3-part design of one battery, one processor, & 3 swappable lenses. So you can use it as an action cam or 360-degree camera. The One RS adds a f/2.4 48MP sensor capable of 4K video @60fps as a part of their 4K Boost Lens. You also get their new FlowState Stabilization which is handled on the camera’s hardware w/o using an app or other hardware. You got an Instant Zoom feature that gives you a 2.7x digital zoom while recording videos.
Then you have the new rugged design as it is now IPX8 waterproof up to 16ft, the new Core makes the Wi-Fi 50% faster, and an extra mic w/ windproof mic cover gives you better audio. A new redesigned mounting bracket w/ a quick release mechanism for fast swapping of lenses and a new heat-dissipating panel to keep your camera cool.
So if you didn’t know, you’ll be able to use this as an action camera, a 360-degree camera, or a livestreaming camera – basically covering all of your creative needs in one solution. And did we mention that it’s future proof? Due to its modular design, you’ll be able to grab new lenses + accessories as they become available as well. So you can swap out the 4K lens for the 5.7K 360 lens or the 5.3K 1inch wide-angle lens.
So for $550, you get a sweet setup of a 4K Boost Lens, a 360 Lens, a ONE RS Core, a ONE RS Battery Base, a Lens Cap for 360 Lens and a ONE RS Mounting Bracket. This looks amazing but is this something that should worry GoPro? We’ll see what they have up their sleeves for September? Are you picking this one up?
