After being leaked in detail, Sony is making their latest + greatest noise-canceling headphones w/ the WH-1000XM5s.    Sony’s ANC cans have become the new staple for travel + now work from home crowd but what did they add to the XM5s to make it better.  Let’s dive into all that’s new.

So now the design doesn’t fold now unfortunately as this leads to a now larger carrying case.  You got a slider for the earcups, synthetic leather on the thinner headband, a physical button for switching between ANC + ambient modes, and adding more mics making it up to 8 in total.

This is a larger Bose NCH 700-like carrying case this time around.

Now in regards to the more important part: the sound.  Sony goes from 40mm now to 30mm drivers which will offer more clarity + bass reproduction w/ less thump.  You’ll have the cool sound features like LDAC, DSEE, audio upscaling, 360 Reality Audio, & Speak-to-Chat as well.  You got 4 beamforming mics for better voice call quality.  The noise-canceling features level up w/ a new 2nd QN1 Noise-Canceling chip to quiet mid-to-high-frequency noise.

Sony armed these w/ enough features/specs to be even more competitive.  So the Sony WH-1000XM5 headphones will be out really quick like next week quick.  These will be out next week on May 20th for $50 more for $400.  While the WH-1000XM4s will still remain on sale as well for $348 full retail if you don’t catch a sale.
