Just in case you’re lead up to the weekend is looking dismal, maybe this will lighten up your mood.  Especially for you audiophiles/headphone junkies out there.  We possibly got our 1st look on the 5th-generation WH-1000XM5 headphones from Sony

And we’re getting a new look & updated features to go along w/ it.  These images + specs come from German site TechnikNews BTW.  And w/ everything they’re reporting about it, sounds like Sony is looking to maintain their crown for the best noise-cancelling headphones as well.

So at 1st look, we see an exposed, thin arms that are separate from the headband.  The cups look like it swivels which replaces the folding hinge from the current model.  We also see more cushioning for an even more comfortable fit.   They look to have replaced their Custom button w/ an NC/AMB button which makes more sense to me.

We also got a 40-hour battery life w/ ANC on as opposed to the 30 hours w/ 3.5 hours of total charging via USB-C.  Sony will utilize 2 processors for ANC instead of just one, a new driver providing the sound, and will retain the 3 mics for picking up your voice and block out noise but they are in different positions.

We don’t know about the pricing or availability thus far but they currently retail for $350.  I can imagine that they will stay within that ballpark range.  I think these are an much-needed update to their design as they’ve been the same for a few years.  What do you think about the new look/features?
