Earlier today, the folks over at V-Moda dropped their latest & possibly their greatest pair of cans: the S-80 on-ear headphones. They retain a similar design language you would expect from the likes of V-Moda but it is redefined in a way. Since these are on-ear cans, don’t expect any noise-canceling present but they do have something to kind of make up for it when taking calls – sort of. Let’s dive into all that does come w/ it and all that it has to offer.
So the S-80s offer a pair of 40mm drivers, 20-hours of battery life, Bluetooth 5.1, and support for Qualcomm’s aptX HD, AAC, & SBC. Instead of touchpads, you got physical buttons on the top of the cans as the sides can be swapped out via their magnetic shields. You have a dedicated app to adjust/customize the EQ to your liking. V-Moda made these interesting by allowing them to twist + lay on your chest to act as a personal speaker system as well. Definitely something I haven’t seen done w/ any other pair of headphones.
You can pre-order yours now as they will go on sale in July. The S-80s will retail for $400 and arrive in 3 color options of White w/ silver metal hardware, Black w/ silver metal hardware, or Black w/ rose gold metal.
