Its been a while since Google has been in the tablet space and one could say Android tablets have suffered because of it.  Its been 10 years since they teamed up w/ ASUS for the beloved Nexus 7 tablet.  Google’s $499 Pixel Tablet was revealed last year at Google Pixel 7 launch and months later it is finally ready to go on sale.

Not only that we now know all about it and what could make it stand out.  So let’s start w/ the basics, you have a 10.9inch LCD display w/ 2560 x 1600 resolution + stylus pen support, powered by their Tensor G2 CPU, coupled w/ 8GB of RAM + choice of 128GB or 256GB of storage, a pair of f/2.0 8MP camera (one in the front and one in the back), fingerprint reader on the Power button, 4 built-in speakers, 3 mics, and a Google-suggested 12-hour battery life.

Now here’s where this get a little more interesting.  Every Pixel Tablet will ship w/ a Charging Speaker Dock accessory which can be used to charge your tablet using magnets + pogo pins up to 15W.  Now this gives you a 43.5mm full-range speaker that will turn your in a smart display/smart home controller when docked – like a Google Nest Hub/Hub MaxMaking the Pixel Tablet part Android slate for on-the-go and part smart hub for at home.  Literally, the best of both worlds.

We played w/ the tablet briefly as it handled gaming and multitasking w/ ease as well as the dock boost the sound for streaming music in a room at home.  So for $499 will you give Google’s new Pixel Tablet and dock a shot in your life/home?
