After making several imaging innovations to their flagship full-frame mirrorless camera lineup, Sony now brings some of that flavor to their APS-C mirrorless shooters.  Enter their latest: the $1,398 Sony a6700.  Let’s dive into all that come with it, shall we?

Starting w/ the new 26.1MP Exmor R CMOS sensor inside of an APS-C body, powered by their latest BIONZ XR chip that shoots 4K @60fps oversampled from 6K in 4:2:2 10-bit.  This shooter is also capable of 4K @120fps with a crop along w/ S-Log3 & S-Cinetone modes for up to 14 stops of dynamic range.

There’s even a dedicated AI processor coupled w/ real-time recognition technology to assist in boosting the a6700’s auto-focus abilities. This along w/ the added 334 more phase-detection AF points (bringing the total to 759 in total), will help in auto-framing to track subjects w/o having to move the camera. The 5-axis in-body optical image stabilization w/ up to 5 steps of compensation helps to achieve this.

Another welcome addition is the wider vari-angle-style LCD touchscreen that flips out to be viewed for self-facing vlogs and other angles. The OLED EVF is also 2x brighter as well.  In regards to its ports, the a6700 welcomes a USB-C port that supports fast charging and 3.2 Gen 2 (10Gbps) transfer speeds to go along w/ a SD card slot, headphone, mic, and a mini HDMI port. And Sony also added a new dial dedicated for still/movie/S&Q dedicated settings. All of this lies within a new dust & moisture-resistant, lightweight body.

Let us not forget that Sony carried over the newer menu settings interface and the larger Z batteries and grip to go along w/ it.  You can pre-order the a6700 now at Adorama, B&H, and Sony retailers w/ it shipping sometime next month.  The body alone will cost you $1,398 and w/ the 16-50mm kit lens will cost you $1,498, and w/ the 18-135mm lens will cost you $1,798.
