Apple released the HomePod in 2018 and the HomePod mini in 2020, but has been quiet on any movement of other smart home products. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, this could change next spring with the launch of a smart display home hub.
Remember, Apple’s philosophy isn’t to be first to launch, but to provide the best experience with its products. Apple’s smart display is said to resemble a 7-inch screen attached to a HomePod mini and could offer a larger wall-mounted version. The product line is said to have a starting price of $350, which matches the initial price of the HomePod and is pricier than Amazon’s or Google’s larger smart displays by over $100. The report doesn’t specify which device the $350 price applies to, but I would guess the smaller model.
It will act as a go-to hub for all of your smart home needs, like Amazon’s Echo Show or Google’s Nest Hub, and may launch sometime in Spring 2026. While I, personally, haven’t used any HomeKit product or setup, I hope it’s better prepared than Siri is to tackle the smart home needs of its customers.
