Motorola’s first phablet-style foldable was teased last month at CES, but details were scarce. All we knew were screen sizes, color options, and its cameras. But effectively this morning, all changed as Moto dropped the specs for its upcoming Razr Fold, and it is easily one of the company’s most premium flagships to date.
Starting with its screens, the Razr Fold will offer an 8.1-inch 120 Hz foldable display with a 2484 x 2232 resolution and peak brightness of up to 6,200 nits, and a 6.6-inch 165 Hz external screen with a 2520 x 1080 resolution and peak brightness of up to 6,000 nits. All while being thin, like 9.9mm when closed and 4.6mm when open.
In case you’re wondering if the battery can keep up with its bright screens, they’ve got it covered. Moto has equipped it with a silicon-carbon 6,000 mAh battery, which supports fast charging up to 80W wired and 50W wireless charging. Inside, it’s powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chip with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. The new Razr also gets IP48 and IP49 dust and water resistance, Bose-tuned sound with Dolby Atmos support, and matches Google and Samsung with seven years of OS and security updates.
And lastly, Motorola has armed the Razr Fold with premium camera sensors in hopes of being one of the top cameras on a phone or foldable. The main sensor is an f/1.6 50MP Sony Lytia 1/1.28-inch sensor; then there is an f/2.4 50MP Lytia telephoto with 3x optical zoom, an f/2.0 50MP ultrawide with a 122-degree field of view that doubles as a macro camera, an f/2.4 32MP selfie shooter on the outer screen, and an f/2.4 20MP selfie on the inner panel.
While we don’t have US pricing, it will ship for €1,999 (about $2,350) in Europe first and bundled with the Moto Pen Ultra stylus, with the US to follow in ‘coming months.’
