Apparently, we might get that shorter and wider foldable from Samsung after all. Yesterday, we shared reported images from the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8, which roughly resembled the Z Fold 7 but was slightly thicker. According to a second set of images, we may be getting two versions of the Galaxy Z Fold 8, with a traditional tall, narrow model and a short, wide model.

So the other version of the upcoming foldable is currently dubbed the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide and will be sold to combat the upcoming iPhone foldable with a similar profile. This new batch of CAD photos is courtesy of the folks over Android Headlines and @onleaks. The Z Fold 8 Wide is said to offer a 5.4-inch outer screen and a 7.6-inch internal screen, which is similar to Google’s Pixel Fold.

Other than the alternative dimensions, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide is said to offer similar specs as the Z Fold 8, including a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip, a 5,000 mAh battery with 45W charging, and a $2,000 price tag. However, its rear appears to be modeled after the Galaxy S25 Edge, which means you’re down a camera and would only have two shooters instead of three.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide is expected to arrive alongside the standard Galaxy Z Fold 8 and the Galaxy Z Flip 8 during the company’s summer Unpacked event.
