Yup, you won’t have to worry about hearing about the Afeela vehicles anymore, as Sony Honda Mobility has announced, via statement, to discontinue its electric vehicles after years of development. Honda is cutting its losses and reviewing its current EV strategy, as the company has already ceased development for its upcoming EVs.
Unfortunately, the vehicles were grossly overpriced with a $90,000 starting price point. But even if it was cheaper, larger problems were preventing an abundance of sales. This news comes after the company took a $15.7 billion loss on its EV investments and is the company’s first in over 70 years as a publicly traded entity.
Hard to believe this vehicle began as the Vision-S concept six years ago at CES. As the Afeela’s exterior, which touted a bland design, didn’t offer any curb appeal, its interior was impressive but looked costly with the amount of cameras involved. For those of you who paid $200 to reserve an Afeela vehicle, the company will issue refunds.
