After surviving an intense winter in the northeastern part of the US, one can only anticipate a brutal and humid summer on the way. It would be nice to combat it, other than with a portable fan or a neck fan. The folks over at Shark just announced a potentially better solution. Meet the new $150 ChillPill, a personal cooling system that keeps the heat away in three ways: via a fan, mist, and a cooling plate.
The ChillPill has a double-barrel design that’s UV-resistant, with one side being the battery/control portion and the other being for the attachments. It works by using three different attachments: a bladeless high-speed fan with 10 adjustable speeds, a contact-based cooling plate that can lower skin temperature up to 16 degrees, and a dry-touch mist with up to 10 minutes of mist and constant and interval options.
Its attachments are simple to twist and lock into place and remove with ease. The battery portion has a display, which showcases its battery life, fan speed, and modes. This function is also how you adjust speeds by turning the dial that the display rests on. During my brief time with it, the ChillPill does a good job of powering on and begins cooling in a matter of seconds.
The ChillPill is versatile, as it can be worn, clipped on, or have its barrel twisted and placed on a flat surface to stay cool. The worn or clipped-on options require a clamp or cross-body and wrist strap accessories, which aren’t included. But it does ship with a carrying pouch, a USB-C to USB-A charging cable, and three additional wicks for the misting attachment.
Its battery life varies depending on your usage, as you can get up to 11 hours on low speeds, four and a half hours at medium speeds, and an hour and a half at maximum speed. However, it does take up to 3 and a half hours to fully charge, starting from 0% to 100%.
The Shark ChillPill is available in seven color options: charcoal, pink, blue, purple, brown, green, and rose gold. It’s on sale now on Amazon or the company’s site on March 11.
