Google is working to make Gemini a more powerful and proactive AI assistant. This new AI agent, codenamed ‘Remy,’ would do more than just serve as a designated chatbot and proactively manage your school, work, and daily life tasks. This would essentially transform Gemini into a 24/7 AI assistant.
According to a Business Insider report, Google employees are already testing Remy internally, and it is said to live within the Gemini app. To be most effective, Remy would require access to your chats, personal context, personal intelligence, connected apps, agent files, and location. A report corroborated by 9to5Google also notes that new code in the latest beta version of the Google app indicates Remy can talk with others, share documents, take actions, and make purchases on your behalf.
So, in case you thought the upcoming Google I/O keynote might have been boring, this could make things a lot more interesting. If you’re interested and using the free version, you’re eventually going to want to upgrade to the Gemini AI Pro or AI Ultra tiers to get access to this if and when announced. Unless you’re anti-AI, this news will just raise your anxiety to Sarah Connor levels.
