Although we’re still weeks away from Google’s Pixel 11 phones, we’re already getting reports on what to expect from the company’s upcoming budget A-series phone. The reception of the Pixel 10a was lukewarm due to barely any changes between that and its predecessor. Apparently, Google isn’t repeating that mistake.
According to Mystic Leaks’ Telegram report, Google is swapping out chips for improved versions for several components for the Pixel 11a. The reports suggest it will be armed with the same Tensor G6 chip that ships with the upcoming Pixel 11 phones, as opposed to the 10a that was equipped with an older G5 chip. Also, it’s set to get a new GPU and a MediaTek modem; the latter should improve dropped calls and lessen battery drain.
The report also mentions the same 8GB of RAM and 6.3-inch 120 Hz display, but with a brighter panel that upgrades from 3,000 to 3,350 nits of peak brightness. Also, it’s set to have an updated selfie camera and a mildly smaller battery, going from a 5,000 mAh to a 4,870 mAh cell, although the new chips should balance out to equate to the same or potentially better battery life. The suggested colors are Black, Green, Purple, and Silver.
This sounds like the Pixel 11a will be a more welcoming upgrade than the previous model. I just need the addition of Pixesnap Qi2 magnetic wireless charging to seal the deal.
