Another day, another price increase for tech. This is the good old byproduct of the ongoing memory and component supply issues thanks to the rapid expansion of data centers. Apple was the last company to announce increased costs, and Google could be next to join the many companies doing the same.
Last week, the folks over at 9to5Google talked to Google’s VP of Devices and Services, Shakil Barkat, and all but confirmed the Pixel 11 would cost more than its predecessor. “Google has shielded our consumers from supply fluctuations for as long as possible, but the economics have fundamentally shifted and we’re not immune to that,” says Barkat. For context, the price of 1GB of RAM has gone from $2.80 in 2025 to now $12 in 2026. The pricing is based on data from Morgan Stanley.
Barkat also stated that due to these changes, the entire Pixel family will see adjustments to match supply realities. According to the latest rumors, the base model Pixel 11 Pro is set to cost $100 more but arrive with less RAM—from 16 GB to 12 GB. He mentions that Google is working to make sure Android apps and systems can run better using less RAM.
