The unfortunate rumors of OnePlus’s demise have been circling since late last year and have grown earlier this week with corroborating reports from WinFuture and Bloomberg. The company plans to honor current support and warranty agreements set in place, including software update support. Speaking of which, Oppo plans to transition OnePlus devices from its OxygenOS to its ColorOS Android skin in future updates, with the option to revert back to OxygenOS.
The company didn’t comment on which markets the OnePlus brand would continue to operate in. However, Bloomberg’s report suggested China would be the only remaining market, departing from India by the end of next year. It is truly the end of an era, and it was a good ride. The last time I felt this way was when HTC stopped making phones here in the US.
