Have you ever needed to send money to a loved one without a bank account or internationally, but with the ease of Cash App or Zelle? One carrier is making it easier to do this from your phone. Total Wireless, which was announced late last week, introduced fee-free Western Union transfers, making it surprisingly the first US wireless carrier to do so.
The fine print shows that the carrier will bundle one fee-free Western Union transfer per month to over 200 countries and territories globally. Sending money can happen via the Western Union app or their website. This doesn’t apply to all customers, as you need to be on their Max 5G, Max 5G BYO, or All Access plans, which range from $25 to $60 monthly.
Families here in the US reportedly send over 12 transactions per year, and this new perk can help save on transaction fees. And for the uninitiated, Total Wireless is Verizon’s prepaid, no-contract carrier that offers affordable options via VZ’s 5G networks, with over 2,000 physical locations.
