Now let’s officially introduce you to the new Pixel 11 Pro and the Pixel 11 Pro XL. The Pro Pixels get new color options with Canyon, Fog, and Olive replacing Moonstone, Jade, and Porcelain, with the Obsidian option remaining. And like the Pixel 11, the Pixel 11 Pro now costs $100 more and starts at $1,100, and the Pixel 11 Pro XL now starts at $1,300.
Both of Google’s Pro-level flagships feel a little bit lighter than their predecessors. The 11 Pro and 11 Pro XL weigh 7.2 oz and 8 oz down from last year’s 7.3 oz and 8.2 oz. There’s now an anti-scratch coating on their OLED displays, which also reach up to 3,600 nits from the 3,300 nits on the 10 Pro phones. The Pixel’s signature Pro cameras’ Pro Zoom feature gets upgraded to 120x digital zoom thanks to the new Tensor G6 chip inside. Both are also equipped with the new camera bar with edge-to-edge glass and a metal frame. Google opted to start its Pro phones at 12GB of RAM with the upgrade option to 16GB.
On the battery side, the cells slightly shrink in size with the 11 Pro armed with a 4,850 mAh vs. last year’s 4,870 mAh cell. The same applies to the 11 Pro XL’s 5115 mAh vs. 5,200 mAh cell size. For the Pixel 11 Pro XL, wired charging gets a little faster, as it can charge up to 75% in 30 mins with a 45W power source as opposed to the 70% in the same amount of time on last year’s model. And like the base model 11, the 11 Pro phones get faster wireless charging with Qi2.2 at 25W.
What we thought would be called Pixel Glow (which is the better name) is officially called HiLight. This feature is exclusive to the Pixel 11 Pro phones, as it uses several ambient LED lights essentially for light-based rear notifications. HiLights can showcase calls from your favorite contacts (with custom colors for select contacts) and doubles as a visual light for Gemini interactions.
Both the Pixel 11 Pro and the 11 Pro XL retain their respective 6.3-inch and 6.8-inch OLED screens, 256GB base storage, their 42MP selfie camera, and a rear triple-camera system consisting of a 50MP main wide, 48MP ultrawide, and a 48MP telephoto with 5x optical zoom. Both Pro Pixels also keep their Pixelsnap magnets, IP68-dust- and water-resistant bodies, and seven years of OS, security, and Pixel Drop updates.
Pre-orders for the Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro XL begin today and are available for purchase on August 20. Both phones will include six months of Google AI, which includes higher Gemini usage limits, 5TB of cloud storage, and access to Google Health Premium and Google Home Premium.
Google also revealed the Pixel Buds Pro 2 in a new Olive colorway with the same $229 price tag.
