Samsung has definitely ramped their efforts to truly go toe-to-toe with Apple. While they haven't truly been able to best the 9.7inch iPad but they are going for the new tablet sensation: the iPad mini. Earlier this week, a Samsung executive confirmed the Galaxy Note 8.0 to be announced at MWC next month.
The specs of the smaller Note tablet are now confirmed thanks to leaked slides courtesy of TechnoBuffalo. The Note 8.0 will be armed with:
- 8inch Super Clear display w/ 1280 x 800 resolution
- running Android 4.2 Jelly Bean
- powered by a 1.6GHz quad-core Exynos processor
- 2GB of RAM + 16/32GB of storage
- dual cameras (5MP in the rear + 1.3MP in the front)
- 4600 mAh battery
- Wi-Fi/Bluetooth 4.0/HSPA+
- the same S-Pen + digitalizer packaged w/ the Galaxy Note II & Note 10.1
Samsung won't have it easy as rumors peg the new iPad mini to be armed with a Retina Display. Time and sales numbers will tell. The great thing about competing manufacturers, consumers get better options to choose from. Let's keep innovation going.
