Upon picking up my Nexus 7 and getting to know everything about it, the next step was to find a suitable case for it.   A case that provides adequate function as well as protection without looking ridiculous.  Among the many case options out there for the Nexus 7, the Portenzo BookCase was the first one to really catch my eye.

It looks a book you would find in a library that holds your Nexus 7 in tow.  Each case is customized & crafted in St. Louis using old world book binding along with high-quality materials like Maple wood for the book base.   The base exposes the Power button/volume rocker, audio jacks, charging port along with a canal that guides the audio from the speaker to you even though it is barely visible. Let’s get more in-depth on the case below.

Thumbs Up

Portenzo’s BookCase offers a variety of features which immediately drew me to it.  First and foremost is the case’s IntelliStand where you fold the cover back into a stand.  A built-in stand that’s sturdy and easy to use.   Adds an extra two ways to watch things on your Nexus tablet with a 15 & 45-degree angle arch. Nicely done.

“The BookCase doesn’t add unwanted bulk or weight to your Nexus 7 as you can still throw it in your back pocket. “
The BookCase comes with options to equip it with even more features but at a cost.   One of them that comes free with the base package is the SmartCover.  The cover automatically wakes up your Nexus when opening and puts it to sleep when closed.   This definitely helps as the Power button isn’t as fully exposed as I’d like it to be.  Keeping your Nexus tablet secure while adding useful functionality. What’s not to love.

Thumbs Down

I found nothing negative about this case whatsoever.

I personally think that this is the perfect case for the Nexus 7.  I had no real gripes with it.  Portenzo made sure to use great quality materials to construct their BookCase and it shows when you feel it/use it.  The BookCase doesn’t add unwanted bulk or weight to your Nexus 7 as you can still throw it in your back pocket.   They left no stone unturned with this case.  Unless you are a stylus user then you have no where on the BookCase to store it.  Other than that, this has everything you would possibly need.

To Buy Or Not To Buy

The Portenzo BookCase starts at $39.95 and can double with additional features added to it.  As some people’s budgets may not fit this, I would still say to buy it.   I have not ruled out other Nexus 7 cases but this is easily a great case you will love instantly.
