For some strange reason, Amazon left a huge detail out when crafting their 1st smartphone – the latest Bluetooth technology. This is key as all of the pieces of wearable tech like smartwatches + fitness trackers utilize Bluetooth 4.0 LE as the specs on the Fire Phone say 3.0. The folks over at Mashable spotted this as this left us scratching our heads to why.
So this means no support for the Pebble, Fitbit, FuelBand, etc.
The good news is that the hardware actually does support Bluetooth 4.0 LE as Amazon will roll out a software update to bring it from v3.0 to 4.0. The only question now is: how long after the Fire Phone hit the shelves, will we have to wait for it to arrive?
Does this put buying one on hold until the update comes out? Is this a deal-breaker for you? Sound off in the comments below.
