Remember we told you about Google working on their version of Airdrop for Android last year?   Well, we got the Pixel 4 and still didn’t get it within its many new features.  New details reveal a new name for it as well as new details that could mean its coming for 2020.

The folks over at XDA Developers found some code within the latest Play Services.  It was originally called Fast Share but it now looks to be going by the Nearby Sharing name.  So how it will work is like this.  It would 1st establish a connection via Bluetooth and then use a direct Wi-Fi connection to transfer files.  Airdrop is one of the those amazing features like iMessage that keeps folks on Apple.

Google is in severe need for something like this.  Now there’s still a lot we don’t know about it though.  We won’t know if it will work w/ Apple devices, we don’t know if we’ll have to wait for I/O or get it via their new feature drops.  However, I’m guessing the latter in regards to how it arrives.

So who’s excited for this one? I know I am.
