Good news for you OnePlus owners! Google’s Ambient Mode is coming to your device. This was announced back in September as it turns your phone into a bit of a smart display. Kind of like when charging on the Pixel Stand.
Ambient Mode gives you a Google Assistant page that offers info like commute, weather, calendar, etc. as well as notifications, reminders, music controls, showcase Google Photos, and quick access to smart home controls. This will be available for more than just the most recent devices from OnePlus. So if you have a OnePlus 3 or higher, you will be able to use it. It is rolling out slowly BTW. But you can turn it on by going into the Google app and hit More > Settings > Google Assistant > select Assistant tab > Devices.
So why might this be exciting? Since OnePlus does not have an Always-On Display option, this is the next best thing. So who’s excited to give this a try?
