With Google’s latest flagships arriving this week, the company also announced a new way to protect and insure your new Pixel smartphone. Introducing the new Pixel Care+ program, which offers flagship-level protection and consists of submitting claims for damages, replacing batteries or screens, accessing support, and getting your Pixel device replaced.
Google provides two options with the base Pixel Care+ coverage and Pixel Care+ with Loss and Theft, with the latter being the more premium of the two, both in coverage and pricing. The program includes features such as $0 screen and battery repairs, $0 post-warranty malfunction claims, unlimited claims for accidental damage, extended warranty claims, and mechanical damage, use of genuine Google parts and replacements, priority support from Pixel Experts, self-service claims through the Google Store site, and the ability to add loss and theft coverage for those on the standard plan.
Regarding pricing, it depends on the device. The Pixel 10 costs $9 monthly and $13 per month for the Pixel 10 Pro and Pro XL on the standard plan, the 10 is $10 per month, and the 10 Pro and Pro XL are $15 per month with the premium Pixel Care+ plan, and Google provides 2- and 3-year options for both tiers. You’ll have up to two months after purchasing a device to add Pixel Care+ coverage, which gives you some wiggle room in case you’re undecided about it. And if you’re already a subscriber of Google’s Preferred Care and Fi Device Protection, expect your coverage to roll over into the new service within the coming weeks.
As far as what devices are covered, Pixel 8 or newer, Pixel Watch 2 or newer, and several Fitbit devices like the Charge 6 and the Sense 2. Pixel Care+ coverage can be added via the Google Store’s site or the new My Pixel app.
