Remarkable has made quite the name for itself as a top-tier e-ink tablet maker with its flagship Paper Pro and smaller Paper Pro Move. This morning, the company announced its new $400 Paper Pure tablet, which is the successor and replacement to its reMarkable 2 slate. The new tablet is available for pre-order today and goes on sale sometime in early June.
The Paper Pure is a 10.3-inch black-and-white E-Ink tablet that weighs only 0.79 lbs and is only 0.24-inches thick. It’s comprised of 38% recycled materials, and its rear is held together using screws and snaps instead of glue—for easier repairs. The Paper Pure houses a 3,820 mAh battery, which the company says lasts up to three weeks before charging when used an hour a day. The new slate also works with reMarkable’s other digital pens, which charge magnetically on the side of the tablet.
The company utilizes the reMarkable’s newest, third-gen Canvas display, which paired with its digital pens, creates the natural writing experience with only 21 milliseconds of latency. The new screen also provides better contrast and refresh speeds than other reMarkable tablets. It also arrives with new software features, such as connecting to Google Calendar or Microsoft Outlook for meeting-specific notes and converting Word documents and Google Chrome webpages to Remarkable’s notebook format for editing. However, these new features will arrive on the Paper Pure and trickle down to the company’s other slates.
The ReMarkable Paper Pure also arrives in a $450 bundle, which includes an upgraded stylus with a dedicated eraser button and a Sleeve Folio case available in ocean blue, mist green, and desert pink color options. The latest tablet is now its most affordable offering, under the $450 Paper Pro Move and the $630 Paper Pro. At this point, many interested buyers will wonder how long until we get the color version of the Paper Pure.
