Yesterday evening, Anker held its now-annual Anker Day event out in NYC. We were in attendance to see all that the company has been working on, product-wise, to bring to market. One of the announcements was the company’s latest flagship earbuds from its Soundcore line: the $170 Liberty 5 Pro and the $230 Liberty 5 Pro Max. Both buds are now available, with the 5 Pro arriving in black, blue, pink, and white and the 5 Pro Max in gold and black.
Both earbuds retain the LCD screens from their predecessor with a 0.96-inch touchscreen, but the 5 Pro Max boasts a larger 1.78-inch OLED screen. What’s new here is the company’s new Thus AI audio chip, which powers up to 20 voice commands and boosts the buds’ noise-reduction capabilities so you can be heard in noisy settings. Anker suggests the ANC on their newest buds is 100% more effective than the Liberty 4 Pro buds. The chip also gives the Liberty 5 Pro Max additional AI note-taking powers via its charging case.
Both earbuds are IP55-rated for dust and water resistance; they offer a total of eight mics, two bone-conduction sensors, the ability to connect to up to three devices, LDAC, and Dolby Atmos support. Soundcore offers Hear ID, a feature that crafts a custom EQ based on your personal hearing test. However, the new chip reduces battery life on both options, as you’ll get up to 6.5 hours of juice with ANC on and up to 28 hours in total with its charging case. There is fast charging present, as a 5-minute charge provides 4 hours of juice.
We left the event with both buds, and we’ll begin testing. Hopefully, we can pull off a quick turnaround for them.
