We were anticipating the camera-equipped AirPods Pro sometime next year. A recent report from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman confirmed that it definitely isn’t happening this year, as Apple is hard at work fixing its current supply chain issues.
However, earlier this week, a leaked video revealed Apple’s upcoming AirPods Ultra in action, showing someone holding a book up to the earbuds so Siri can see the title and save it for later. The video was found in an upcoming macOS 26.7 update. Apparently, the company is working on a separate competing version internally in the meantime.
And for those of you concerned about privacy, don’t expect Apple to make earbuds that can record and take photos—at least not yet. The cameras on the Ultra are said to use low-resolution sensors to provide context to Siri and scan the surroundings rather than take photos or videos.
