Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook had a press conference today focusing on the mobile side of things. Rumors were circulating about an actual Facebook phone of sorts but that was shot down…for now anyways. For now we have to deal with a new mobile platform for Facebook making its way to different smartphone platforms like BlackBerry, iOS, Android, and Windows Phone 7. The new platform will have a single sign-on for all platforms, Facebook Places support, and an new feature called Deals that offers users location-based sales and special offers from various retailers.
Android will receive an update for Facebook 1.4 today that will bring the Facebook Places and Groups feature to the OS. The iOS Facebook will be bumped up to Facebook 3.3 and will offer improved Facebook Places support and will bring the Groups feature to iDevices (except the iPad). The iOS update is slated for sometime next week.
