The Nest Protect works w/ the Nest app to alert you of exactly where in your home the problem is. But more than just alert you, it tells you in a human female voice (a la Google Now or Siri). It starts off w/ a Heads-Up warning that alerts in advance of rising levels of smoke or CO. You can silence the warning with a wave of your hand. The Protect doubles as an LED light to path light at night or in case of an actual emergency. The Nest Protect works so well due to its multiple sensors inside like: a photoelectric smoke sensor, CO sensor, heat sensor, light sensor, ultrasonic sensors and activity sensor.
