Along w/ the updated Vita, Sony unveiled something new today. Meet the PS Vita TV: a small streaming set top box/mini console that is based on the Vita hardware. It’s pretty small – 6 x 10 centimeters to be exact and it set to be Sony’s take on Apple TV.
This new box offers a PS Vita game card slot, memory card slot, 1 USB 2.0 port and HDMI out at 720p, 1080i and 480p. A 1 GB memory card is built-in. It will play original PlayStation, PSP & Vita games on their TV w/ a DualShock 3 controller, supports a few media streaming services like Hulu Plus and Sony’s Music Unlimited, and can act as a server to stream your PS4 games to your TV as well. Sony as come out of nowhere w/ this impressive little box.
PS Vita TV will be available in Japan on Nov. 14. The bundle featuring an 8 GB memory card and a “PlayStation Vita TV edition” white DualShock 3 as the Vita TV is currently for Japan only.
