Google’s new unified chat service Hangouts was just released yesterday and is already set to get even better in the near future. According to Google+ Community Manager for Hangouts & Chat, SMS integration is one of their most requested features and will be coming soon. Android’s version of the app already asks for permission to access your SMS before installing but with Apple being way more locked down, don’t expect this feature to make to iOS.
With word of upcoming Google Voice support, Hangouts will definitely cover all of your communications (minus email) inside one app.
