Guess who’s bizack!  The HP Slate is back in effect, running Windows 7 Professional and aimed at the business/enterprise crowd as it is priced at $799 (Ouch!).  Which is quite the difference from the $549/599 pricing we were informed about previously.   The 8.9inch touchscreen tablet weighs in at around 1.5lbs and can be used with a stylus to use for writing things down in Wordpad, Evernote (pre-installed) or even draw stick figures of your boss with MS Paint.   The full specs on the Slate 500 are after the break along with a demo video and the official release.

  • 8.9inch touchscreen display w/ 1024 x 600 resolution
  • 1.86GHz Atom Z540 processor
  • 2GB of RAM
  • 64GB of SSD HD
  • Windows 7 Professional OS
  • 1080p HD support via Broadcom Crystal HD Accelerator
  • VGA front-facing camera and 3MP rear-facing camera
  • 1 USB port, 1 headphone/mic jack, 1SD Card slot
  • Wi-Fi b/g/n support, Bluetooth 3.0
  • up to 5hr battery life

Although it’s not the webOS-powered Slate that you may have been hoping for, I’m quite sure HP has plenty of tricks up their sleeve using Palm underdog OS.
