For those of you unfamiliar w/ PhoneBloks, it is a smartphone concept that allows you to keep your phone forever by swapping out processor, camera, memory, display, etc for updated versions.  Apparently great minds think alike as Motorola has been working on the something similar called Project Ara.  This is set to be an open, hardware platform consisting of different modules.

The photo above shows early Ara designs to get a feel of what they might look like.  Imagine being able to upgrade your 8MP to a 13MP, a dual-core processor to a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, 720p display to 1080p and more.  All without having to get a new device.  You keep the frame or endoskeleton and just swap out for better parts.
This is such a dope idea.   Motorola plans to unveil more details about Ara in the next few months.    What do you think about this?
