This morning NVIDIA announced some new devices to expand on the Shield family of products. Introducing the Shield Tablet + the Shield Controller. Last year’s Shield device is now called the Shield Portable.

Meet NVIDIA’s new vision for mobile gaming.

The new tablet sports a 8inch 1080p IPS LCD display as it is powered by their new Tegra K1 quad-core 2.2GHz CPU alongside a 192-core Kepler GPU, 2GB of RAM, choice of 16GB or 32GB of storage, microSD slot up to 128GB, front-facing dual stereo speakers, 5MP camera on the front + on the rear, stylus support, MIMO Wi-Fi, and a 10-hour battery life.

While the controller syncs to your tablet via Wi-Fi Direct that sports a built-in mic, rechargeable battery, a 3.5mm headphone jack for voice chat, dual joysticks, triggers, and A/B/X/Y button layout.

The new Shield products are compatible with their GameStream platform. This allows gamers to play PC games on their Shield devices. Having now added stream to Twitch support, GameStream will now be an even bigger hit.

NVIDIA is now taking pre-orders as they will become available next week on July 29th. The Shield Tablet will start at $299 while the Controller has a $59 price tag on it.
