Going to church as kid will be a lot different from when my kids go.  Everything will be more interactive, social, and more technologically advanced.  Last week, we discussed how technology is now making its way into many churches across the US.  I previously talked about the ways of old and now we have a blueprint for you to follow to at least introduce the iChurch Method into your church.  Church 2.0 is the wave off the future for your house of worship.

Now that you've seen it in action and maybe a bit more convinced. Here are some other ways to get started.

  • For starters, make sure you device. Prior to entering the building, put your phone on silent. Not vibrate - silent.  You don't need any further distractions while in church.
  • Next, download a Bible app.  Most of them are free BTW.  Having access to scripture on your device can lead to quick access for search so you can stay on top of the sermon of the day.
  • Then you can Check-In via Facebook, Google+ or Foursquare/Swarm, and let your friends know where they can find inspiration.
  • Going social in church.  You can expand the reach of the word & your church by sharing bible verses/inspirational messages via Facebook, Google+, Twitter, or even Instagram.
  • There are apps you can use to pay offerings/tithes as well.  Apps like SecureGive or Mogiv allow churches to accept payments via text/app.  This is a safe + secure way to make your transactions.  This comes in handy on days where you can't make it to church, don't have any cash on you,  or are on vacation.
  • While many churches already record their Sunday sermons/services for members to put  on DVD or VCR, there is another method that can be used as well w/ livestreaming.  You can use livestreaming apps like Ustream (starting at $100 monthly + 30-day free trial) or Livestream (w/ a free or $50 monthly plan).  You can put it on your church's Facebook page or share the link across other avenues of social media.

AT&T is behind this movement called Inspired Mobility as it encourages the conversation. The creator of the iChurch Method, Jason Caston, has an interview w/ Sean Cannnell where they discuss social media and internet church tips.  You can download the full interview here for free.

Are you already utilizing some of these tips?  Did I miss some and you have any suggestions?  Sound off about it below.  Join + keep up w/ the conversation using the #InspiredMobility.
