Samsung has been becoming quite notorious these past few events in throwing us curveballs in the form of an additional device that has yet to leak.  While we didn't know too much about the Note 4 in regards of its appearance, we knew some of its specs and that it was coming.

But this time, Samsung snuck in a variant of the Note 4 w/ the new type of curved display.  Enter the Galaxy Note Edge.  Believe it or not, there isn't too much different from the Edge and the Note 4.   There are a minor few though.  After demoing it, let discuss our initial thoughts on it.

  • The sloped display is an interesting design choice.  The curve actually acts as a 2nd display.  Where it allows you to view notifications always as well as the ability to switch it up to access your constantly used apps and more w/ just a swipe of a thumb.

Think of the slope on the Note Edge as a quick launcher or notification ticker.

  • While using the Note Edge is a bit better for single-handed use than the Note 4, it maybe made for those who are right-handed.  Not sure if it is suited for those like me who are left-handed as the curve is only on the right-side of the display.
  • Not sure who durable the Note Edge will be.  I know it has the Gorilla Glass and all of that but I would be concerned if what would happen if your device would fall on the actual curved part of the screen.  That angle screams instant cracks & chips to me.

I was actually surprised that this device is arriving to the US.  I figured this was in the category of the Galaxy Round and devices like it where it would launch overseas.
