Today, Google unveiled more details on their Android One platform they announced at I/O. Android One is a new standard to push inexpensive Android devices to emerging markets. The initial rollout of devices will be equipped w/ 4.5inch displays, 1GB of RAM, 5MP rear shooters + 2MP in front, dual SIM slots, microSD card slot, FM radio, running damn-near stock Android and powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek CPU.

Android is going for the emerging markets, 1st stop is India.

It will ship for 6399 rupees or $105. It will have support for Hindi and other languages and feature a special version of YouTube that will allow users to download videos and rewatch them w/o suffering extra data charges. Device makers like Micromax, Karbonn, and Spice are bringing you the1st of Android One devices.

After India, the platform will make its way to the Philippines, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Nepal by year’s end. More manufacturers are joining the program like ASUS, Acer, HTC, Lenovo, Panasonic, and CPU-maker Qualcomm.  Android One will help Android and Google improve their global presence without charging too much for the experience.
