Fresh off the success of Black Panther, Marvel is celebrating their 10-year anniversary of being a cinematic universe w/ Avengers Infinity War.  This is a culmination of everything that has been building since the 1st Avengers back in 2012.  The mad titan Thanos is here to beat the brakes off of anyone getting in his way to acquire all 6 of the Infinity Stones.  The wife & I checked it out on Friday afternoon and time to talk about the movie event that is Infinity War.  I'll keep it spoiler-free for the most part.

What I Liked:
  • Seeing all of the MCU characters fighting & interactions
  • Seeing Thor kick ass like he should have been all along
  • A fully-fleshed villain for Marvel w/ Thanos
  • Each character having their own music cues from their movies
What I Didn't Care For:
  • The Black Order outside of Ebony Maw.  Bad CGI and were henchmen level instead of the sub-bosses they should be.
  • Making me tear up at the end (no seriously, I'm man enough to admit it)
  • Having to wait a year for the sequel

Thanos dethrones Killmonger as the best MCU villain IMHO.

The plot is pretty much self-explanatory in the synopsis.  It's all about the Thanos heist for the stones and character moments of your favorite Avengers meeting again or for the first time.  Make no mistake, this is a Thanos movie featuring all of the Avengers.  Josh Brolin did an amazing job w/ the mo-cap suit + CGI to make Thanos a menacing & complex character.  From showing his heart, determination, & power into the MUC's biggest villain.  Hard to hate a bad guy who thinks he's doing the right thing.  I mean you can but its always better than just a douchebag who wants world domination just cause.

You got all of the MCU characters scattered across the world and space.  You got Iron Man, Dr. Strange & Spider-Man in NYC & in space, Thor w/ the Guardians Of The Galaxy, Cap, Black Widow, & Falcon on their own until they link up w/ Scarlet Witch & Vision, and Dr. Banner being the glue bringing all of the Earth-based heroes together until they all link up in Wakanda - save for Team Iron Man.  So there will be a bit of jumping around until most of them meet up towards the end.  But if you watch series like Game Of Thrones or Westworld, you'll be used to it.  If not, I can see it being a bit too busy for some.

Some would say its necessary to see all of the previous MCU films before this one.  Although I have, I would say only Avengers 1, 2, Captain America: Civil War, Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol.1, and Thor Ragnorok.  These would get you up-to-date w/ characters beats/storylines and Infinity Stone locations/abilities.  But you could easily watch a few recap videos on YouTube to get you caught up a lot faster as well.

Great scene but not int he actual movie.

The Russo Bros made Infinity War as big as an event as big comic book crossover storyline.

Writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely & the Russo brothers directing did an amazing job w/ this film.  Despite knocking it out of the park w/ most of their 18 films.  This was easily the toughest thing to do in regards to juggling 76 (yes, a whopping 76) MCU characters in one film.  Making sure every character got a notable line/action, making sure everyone got decent screen time, & making sure everyone is being utilized in one way/shape/form.  I hope all of you other movie studios looking to do something similar take notes & let your creators create (I'm talking to you DC & WB).

Despite the misleading trailers, this was a good movie (for me).  But, I grew up reading Marvel Comics & seen every MCU film to date.  Of course, I, personally, wanted to see more Cap, Black Panther, M Baku, and more Hulk.  But based on all this movie had to do, I'm fine w/ the final outcome.  I hope that they put everything that cut out in the Blu-Ray as deleted scenes.  Shame we gotta wait an entire year to see happens next.  If you saw it, how did you like it?  What did you like about it?  Was it too busy for you?  Was it just right?  Sound off.
