Google finally makes that updated version of Google Maps available for Android devices running Android 1.6 OS or higher. This offers the option to explore maps in 3D (with tilting, rotating, smooth zooming, and compass mode), offline rerouting and offline use. The 3D and offline features require Android 2.0 or higher to use. This really makes a standalone GPS seem pointless to buy if you have an up-to-date Android device.
