Earlier this evening Nintendo shared more details on the Wii U during a pre-E3 event on the eve of E3. Details pertaining to some of the new features and functionality of the newer controllers & software coming with their new console which is due by the end of the year. Nintendo looks to have finalized the Wii U controller dubbing it the Gamepad and have gone about moving a few things around. The Gamepad now brings NFC reading/writing capabilities, motion + gyroscopic sensors, and infrared sensors turning it into a universal TV remote all to the tablet now. You will be able to use the Gamepad with other Wii accessories together and free from TV.
For the first time we got a chance to see what the new console’s ‘normal’ controller would look like with the Wii U Pro. The new controller will be wireless and as you can see it is remarkably similar to an Xbox 360 controller. No pricing or any other details were unveiled with this new controller but don’t expect you Wii U to arrive with it. It will definitely cost extra.
And lastly, Nintendo unveiled the new software features with their new online community called the Miiverse. Within the Miiverse, you will be able to contact other Miis direct via message or video chat for gaming tips or just for catching up. Nintendo demoed off cool abilities with the Wii U’s new web browser by adding the ability to share web content with your TV & Gamepad.
