Yesterday, Roku announced a new streaming player to add to its growing inventory of products. Introducing the Roku 3, a new streaming box that is 5 times faster than previous generation Rokus with an entirely new interface. You now have dual-band wireless support along with an Ethernet + USB ports. Also new is an enhanced remote control that connects to headphones for private listening.
The new Roku ships with Angry Birds Space and can be used with its new motion-sensing remote control. There are plenty of other games in Roku’s library like: Wheel Of Fortune, Jeopardy, and You Don’t Know Jack to name a few.
The Roku 3 is out now and priced at $99 to compete directly with the Apple TV. You can pick one up at Roku’s online store, Amazon, and other online retailers. Expect in physical electronics retailers in April. Check out a demo video below showing off the new UI.
Don’t fret previous Roku owners, the new interface will begin rolling out to you guys sometime next month. The update will work for all versions of the Roku 2, Roku HD, LT, and their streaming stick.
