For those of you who may not be familiar w/ the Razer company, they are an electronics + entertainment company known for their computers/peripherals.  Earlier this week, they unveiled something a bit different and unexpected w/ the Nabu smart band.  It has features from a smart watch as well as that of a fitness tracker.  It’s a mix of several devices offering the best of both worlds.

The Razer Nabu sports 2 OLED displays: one 32-pixel square for notifications and one 128 x 32  panel for texts, emails, reminders, phone calls, Google Maps directions, social alerts, and more.  One display is on the top for all to see and the other is at the bottom like those in the military checking the time.

On the tracking side of things, the Nabu has got your calories, steps, floors, sleeping, and other activities covered w/ ease.  But here’s where they take things a bit further.  You can set location-based alerts along w/ gesture-based actions like dismissing alerts by shaking your wrist or enable sleep mode by snapping your fingers.
Lastly, you will be able to exchange info w/ other Nabu wearers  as it can detect other users within a proximity.  The company is still focused on offering real-world gamification for the Nabu.  Not bad for a device to do all of that on battery that lasts 7-10 days.  The smart band is powered by Bluetooth Low Energy and supports Android and iOS devices.
Unfortunately, the Nabu is set to launch anytime soon though.  Developers will get the first at it for $49 to help get all of the kinks out of it and will release to consumers for double the price.  Definitely looking forward to this.
