Earlier this morning, Sprint invited us to an event in NYC w/ the title ‘Hear It First’. Little did we know that it would lead to audiophiles friendly event. Sprint teamed up w/ both Harman Kardon + Spotify to bring forth a special edition HTC One M8 exclusive to Sprint.
This version is equipped with a HK’s very own Clari-Fi audio software which is more than just a bass boost + equalizer. This software brings restores hi-fi music quality that’s usually lost during music compression like MP3 downloads and music streaming services. Also onboard is HK’s LiveStage, another piece of software that produces multiple channels of audio. Ideal for watching movies and takes advantage of the M8’s BoomSound speakers. The phone will ship w/ a pair of $149 HK AE-S + $100 Onyx headphones too. Other than that, its the same HTC One M8 released earlier.
Now here’s where Spotify comes into the mix. Any Sprint Family plan customers will get 6-months of free service. Afterwards customers w/ 1-5 lines can get the service discounted down to $8 per month and those w/ 6-10 lines can get it for $5 per month.
The HK edition M8 will arrive in Black and Champagne Gold color finishes. You can get yours on May 2nd online and May 9th at Sprint retailers and is coming to audio retailers like Crutchfield as well. No word on pricing yet but expect to cost a bit more than your typical M8.
