Nexus 7
This Nexus tablet is creme de la creme when dealing w/ Google services. Its super-thin, lightweight, and can fit into your back pocket or bag w/ ease. The 2nd model is definitely better than the 1st one. This 7inch Android tablet is the perfect combination of price + performance for $229.
iPad Air or iPad mini w/ Retina Display
Apple's tablets still has the best offering when it comes to app selection + screen resolution. The Retina mini is more or less a slightly larger Nexus but more for the iOS crowd starting at $350. While the iPad Air is a redesigned 9.7inch iOS tablet but is lighter + thinner starting $499. Either way you can't go wrong.
Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 7inch
For those of you looking for something outside the realms of Android or iOS, take a look at the Kindle Fire HDX. Its their latest and their best tablet effort thus far. Extremely-thin and packed w/ all of the goodies that Amazon services has to offer. The downside is that you have no Google services access but if you're fine w/ that, grab this one.
Surface Pro 3
While many of you may consider this to be int he wrong category, the Pro 3 is still a tablet. A very powerful tablet that can perform as a mid-level laptop (depending on what model/specs you opt for). Now w/ faster internals, higher resolution display, adaptable kickstand and better keyboard. The new Pro 3 is a pure productivity machine for on-the-go. Kind of Microsoft's version of the MacBook as it starts at $800.
