Google has learned so much from the Chromecast. They were able to lock down a great to offer in-home services as well as their own casting streaming. From this success, comes a new technology called Google Cast for Audio. FYI, Google Cast is their new streaming tech utilized within the Nexus Player and future Android TV devices.
Google Cast for Audio wants to go head-to-head w/ AirPlay.
This will allow users to stream music from Google Play Music, Rdio, Pandora, NPR One, but no Spotify though. It will support other Google Cast-ready speakers, sound bars, and receivers. Google has already partnered up w/ Sony, LG, HEOS by Denon. Sony + Denon will support both AirPlay + Google Cast services.
